Toolbox Talks
Course overview
Toolbox talks are a good way of delivering advice on matters of health, safety and the environment, as well as engaging in discussions to obtain feedback, thus helping to maintain and improve standards. However, they are not a substitute for formal training in the correct methods of instruction.
Good communication is essential for the management of health and safety in the workplace.
It is vitally important that duty holders e.g. managers, supervisors and charge-hands engage and consult with the workforce, as it is an effective way of identifying hazards and controlling the risks.
It is the workforce who have first- hand experience of actually carrying out the job and who may therefore be more knowledgeable about the risks involved.
